Improv Game: Think Outside the Box With "Five Things"
Last night this newsletter hit 600 subscribers 🤯
Huge thank you for supporting my writing. Let’s get into this week’s game: Five Things
In this game, players list out five things from a new category each time. This game is successful when you act quickly — your first thought is the right thought.
Goal
Creativity: Forces people to think beyond the obvious answer
Confidence: Reduces hesitation in speaking
What
Players stand in a circle.
One player begins and asks another player to name five things within a particular category, such as: “Sarah, what are five things someone might order at a fancy coffee shop?”
Sarah will list answers one by one. In between each answer, the entire team will count-off by shouting ‘one!’ ‘two!’ and so on.
After Sarah hits five, she will turn to another player and ask for a totally new category.
e.g. she could ask, “Peter, what are five planets we haven’t discovered yet?”
Peter will now quickly list five things in that category.
Repeat with new categories and players, until everyone has gone.
**Here’s a nice tidy video explaining the game.
