Why am I qualified to speak on this?

I might not be

Improv

I have been performing improv for the last five years. I’ve spent the last two years on a house team at Improv Asylum performing weekly. I’ve performed 100+ shows to thousands.

Business

I studied business in college and have been in the ‘workforce’ for 6+ years. I’ve been in the startup space for most of this time — experiencing the magic that is conferences, meetings, conference calls, and networking events.

Improv 🤝 Business

I am not an expert in either of these fields. I know better improvisers, and I know better business-folks. That said, I have a pretty nice lens on both. I especially have seen how improv has impacted my business life.

At the core of improv is listening. Every game boils down to your ability to stop anticipating what people are going to say, and being present to listen and respond to what is said.

Does it sound like something that would be helpful in meetings?
