You have to try
A teacher once told me: go before you are ready.
You may have noticed there wasn’t a newsletter last week. I had COVID and decided to use a ‘sick day’ for the newsletter - I figured people would be okay having one less email. I have mentioned today’s lesson before, but so many new people have joined and it’s just that important.
I led an ‘improv at work’-shop at a conference earlier this week.
It was SO much fun.
Thank you to Underscore VC for having me.
It is exciting to have the opportunity to introduce people to the tenets of improv, and to see their faces light up as they connect it to their work and personal lives.
One participant inspired today’s newsletter.
He sat towards the back and was hesitant to join (we had a small crew, slightly more intimidating).
At first, he said he might leave early.
I said that’s okay!
He ended up staying 45 minutes and had a smile on his face for much of it + strong participation.
He didn’t know what he was signing up for, but he joined anyway.
Go before you are ready.
Lesson
We often take so much time waiting for the stars to align, and they rarely align how we hope.
Many of us are hesitant to take the jump.
Be it to join an improv workshop, or to launch a new project.
Jump anyway. Go before you are ready.
I am going to start offering improv workshops for corporate training and innovation consulting. If your team or company is interested, please reach out! Simply reply to this email.
